After having the most disappointing salad I've had in a long time (house salad - white iceberg lettuce with what tasted like store bought pickled garlic dumped on top), I had the filet mignon (rare). The steak was delicious, but I was up all night with a terrible stomach ache that could possibly be attributed to food poisoning (could have been those grease bombs they call biscuits messing with me). Pretty upsetting considering dinner and drinks (+tip) for my date and myself put me out about $100. Really wish I could undo the whole experience. Would not recommend.

The restaurant looks like a mortuary from the outside...so kinda eerie, but the only thing scarier than that is how great the steaks are prepared! Whether you go during lunch or dinner- the steak is absolutely mouth-watering good! During lunch, I had the country fried steak- GINORMOUS. At dinner, my husband and I had the porterhouse. Sullivan's and Ruth Chris has nothing that compares to this restaurant! The rolls are distinctively good. I have never been a tamale fan-I guess they taste okay.

I had the joy of spending my Birthday Dinner @ Does on Dec. 27, 2013 & it was one of the BEST dinners AND BEST Birthdays in recent memory!! From the Absolutely AMAZING THREE POUND (Yes that is NOT a Typo!!) SIRLOIN that BOTH of my Daughters shared w/ME (& we had leftovers to bring home!) to the Top Notch HOMEMADE TAMALES that my Husband selected - everything was simply wonderful. And our Service could not have been better either. It turned out that our server for the nite had gone to LA TECH w/ my Daughters so he went that extra mile to see that we had everything over & above any expectations. And Small World that BR really is it turned out that I knew the "new" owners (18 mos. or so) but had breezed in late & hadn't recognized her. (Many Congrats Theresa Overby). As for the Management - I had called early that morning & made our reservation & spoken to George, the GM, inquiring about a speciality cocktail I enjoy. He wasn't sure he knew exactly but would work on it prior to our reservation. Sure enough the bartender had one ready on my arrival & it was damn close to the real thing!!! And it was also VERY tasty! Once he returned later in the evening George took over making my request. Getting closer with each attempt. Unfortunately I had to stop before we were completely successful. Don't misunderstand - Each & Every Cocktail was Completely Delicious!! Just not Quite the Original. However I was invited back to sit at the bar & we would try combinations until it was perfect. I can't wait to go back to Does again as between the people I knew, the people I met, the AMAZING FOOD & BEVERAGES it was pretty close to a PERFECT EVENING!!! If you are a STEAK LOVER you are definitely cheating yourself by not going to DOES EAT PLACE!!! And do it SOON!!'

Great steaks for people who appreciate great steaks. Simply the best steakhouse in Baton Rouge, in my opinion. The staff is exceptional; the bartender is probably the most knowledgeable mixologist in all of Louisiana and the owners are both just regular folk who will likely stop by your table and sit down for a second just to say 'hi' and to get to know you. Other places in Baton Rouge do some good steaks, don't get me wrong, but I come here often not only for the great food, but I also for the fact that they treat every customer like they are family (minus the drama, lol). I like dining out when the owners remember your name and are glad you are eating with them. I'm a New Yorker, and this is Southern hospitality as good as it gets.

The best steak in Louisiana. Appears to be located in a refurbished house. Very casual atmosphere. You go here for a steak and the steaks are amazing, made for red eat lovers. Huge, tender portions. Cooked anyway you desire. Full bar with a talented bartender. Kids menu. Enjoy.

Restaurant week- Tuesday- Does Eat Place Doe's has a very zip code appropriate decor. We were all Doe's virgins before tonight. Jordan was our server. She took slightly longer to take our order than desirable but her personality made up for it. The potato soup was good, slightly salty, but my table-mates enjoyed it . I mumbled a "that's what she said" joke after my girlfriend mentioned how huge my meat was (2lb ribeye) under my breath and the server was witty enough to complement it. Steak- nothing to write home about. Between the three filets and the ribeye on our table, no one was blown away...eh. We weren't expecting a side dish with the steaks but given the choice between the red potatoes and fries... The fries were surprisingly superior. Fried biscuits- would be amazing with powdered sugar! Jordan, our server, offered to box up our desserts or have it there before it was brought out-Very nice! She even boxed up some extra biscuits for us as well. Now, even though most women aren't comfortable with the word, the bread pudding was perfectly 'moist!' The white chocolate glaze sauce had a subtle sweetness that pairs perfectly with the bread but doesn't steal the show from the main character. All in all it was slightly overpriced for "restaurant week" but still a pleasant evening. -Sir Yelpsalot

This is only for steak lovers. I couldn't believe I have never been here and after living here for so long. I will never enter an outback again. Let's get to pricing first. They sell by 1 1/2, 2, 3 PDs. Depending on the cut sirloin to tbone 18-22 bucks. If u figure it out the price sounds expensive but u can split it any way u want making it a great deal. When the steak came I was in HEAVEN. I was speechless for 20 minutes. The fries and bread I didnt care for. This is a place where all that matters is STEAK. Smokey delicious and fresh...... a vegans nightmare.

I have eaten and enjoyed Doe's for dinner but decided to go for lunch today. Lunch was exceptional and really hit the spot. We ordered the tamales which were piping hot and actually had meat in them - not a mouth full of slimy corn like most tamales sold today. The Fried oysters were perfectly cooked and the seasoning was delicious - the wife really liked the tartar sauce as well. The blue cheese fries had some thought put into them - they were rich to be sure, but that is what we wanted and hoped for. On to the Fried Steak and garlic mashed potatoes - The steak was mammoth! It was very very very good. Immeadiately you can tell that it was not some boxed frozen thing, but homemade and prepared with attention. The mashed potatoes were perfect and had just enough garlic. The tea was fresh and strong like South Louisiana tea should be. They obviously clean the tea containers and keep it fresh. The worst thing is going to a restaurant and tasting a musty day old tea and/or tea from an unclean container pot. The staff was very friendly and personable which made us feel comfortable but not crowded.

Good cuts and flavorful steaks. However, if you don't want a filet, the smallest steak you can get is 1.5 pounds. My personal favorite cut is ribeye, but the smallest for that is 2 pounds. And I don't want to share food. The wait is a long time, which I know it takes a while to cook a thick steak. But with a 1.5-pound porterhouse, you can develop a really nice crust on that bad boy. Mine was without a crust at all - it's broiled or something and while it was cooked, it wasn't seared. Two options for sides, boiled potatoes or fries. Could use some fresh veg or something. The fries are fresh cut and cooked, but pretty greasy, and the "drop biscuits" are a little odd. Think those sugar covered fried Chinese biscuits you get at the local Chinese buffet - they're like that, minus the sugar.

Great tamales but they can't do a Pittsburgh steak. I find it impossible to believe that all these fancy chefs cannot accomplish what every first-time grill cook does every time they try to cook a steak outdoors.

Doe's has the best steaks in Baton Rouge in my opinion. I just wish they offered smaller cuts as my husband and I don't like our steaks cooked to the same temp. I would visit more often if I could get my own ribeye cooked to the temp I prefer.

I know I only gave 4 stars but I love this place! I love the casual atmosphere, and the size of the ribeye is RIDICULOUS! Great restaurant and try the tamales. I hope this helps anyone looking for a great steak without the stuffyness of some other nice steakouses.
